Its warm here in the window
The lights are bright outside
I watch the people passing by
My eyes are big and wide
As I think just who might want me
Who will come inside and buy
A sort of waggy puppy
A bundle such as I.
I hope they'll understand me
And if a Christmas wish was mine
I would ask to have an owner
Who would love me for all time.
I am told I take up too much room
I'm always in the way
Of someone doing something else
And no one wants to play.
They bought a little puppy
Just nine weeks old you see
But puppies grow as puppies will
And this big dog is me.
There is such a lovely garden
But the kitchen's all I see
As owners out at work all day
There is no time for me.
With another day before me
The hours and hours of light
With nothing left to do but sleep
When I have slept all night.
With puppy sort of wonder
At the world thats going by
I am 8 weeks old, its all so new
I give a little sigh.
Nine months old and in disgrace
I don't know what I've done
The owner doesn't want me now,
The troubles have begun.
I have quite outgrown my basket
I cost a lot to feed
My owner hasn't got the time
For all the walks I need.
There are so many homeless dogs
So many can't you see
Who made a Christmas wish for love
And ended up like me.
